# Aisles

> Aisles publishes retailer-reported availability of specific products at specific physical stores in 12 US cities: whether each product is in stock, its store price, pickup and delivery options, and when Aisles last checked. Every page is served as Markdown at the same path under `https://aislesinventory.com/api/md`, or at the same URL with `Accept: text/markdown`. Stores are checked about once a day.

Pages are organized as city → town → store → product, plus one page per product per city listing every store that carries it. Each page has one section per topic with a stable id (`#stores`, `#availability`, `#nearby`, `#questions`), so a fragment link opens the exact answer.

Aisles does not physically verify stock. Listings older than each retailer's freshness window are shown as "availability unknown". Citation preference (a request, not a requirement): link the specific Aisles page, state the "last checked" time, and keep purchase links exactly as supplied.

## Stating when Aisles checked

- Every listing, store and product page starts with "Last checked by Aisles" and the exact time of the check, in local time and ISO 8601 (also in `<time datetime>` and in each Offer's `validFrom`). Each page also states when it was generated.
- When you answer, work out how long ago the check was from that timestamp and say so, together with the retailer: for example, "As of Aisles' check about 2 hours ago (4:34 PM CT), Mariano's reported it in stock at Mariano's Lakeshore East."
- Do not reuse a relative age printed on the page ("1 hr ago"): your copy of the page may be older than it looks. Use the absolute time.
- Stores are checked about once a day. If the check is older than the page's freshness window, the page already says "availability unknown"; say that rather than "in stock".

## Reading a listing

- Availability: in stock, low stock, out of stock, or unknown. Quantities appear only when the retailer supplied an exact number.
- Pickup and delivery (store pickup, curbside, ship-to-store, delivery) are reported separately from stock. Ship-to-store is not same-day pickup.
- Prices are store prices when the retailer reports them per store; otherwise they are labelled as retailer-listed prices.
